About

My adventures in triathlon began as a kid watching and cheering my mother on in a few local events in the early 90’s. It wasn‘t until 2008, when I joined the Virginia Tech Club Triathlon Team, that I truly fell in love with sport myself. During my time as a Hokie Triathlete, I competed in over a dozen triathlons including Ironman. With a background in swimming, I have a great affinity for open water swims, including 5K & 10K races. My Cheez-It addiction flourished in College as an Industrial Design student, and the love of triathlon and Cheez-It has been with me ever since.

After graduating in 2010, I have kept racing and shifted my focus to the 70.3 distance with the dream of clinching a 70.3 Worlds slot. Some highlights of my 2014 season were raising funds for pediatric cancer with Team Stronghope Foundation (www.stronghopefoundation.org) while getting the opportunity to compete in Spain for Team USA at ITU Duathlon Worlds and achieving a personal best at the USAT AG Nationals Olympic distance race. After my success in 2014, I still was not completely satisfied. My drive to improve led me to reach out to Ben Bartlett, who became my coach in 2015. I attained a personal best of 4h35’ at Raleigh 70.3 in May 2015, which secured me a slot for Zell Am See 70.3 Worlds.  Continuing in 2015-2018, I've a couple overall victories in the Virginia-Maryland Triathlon Series and raced several 70.3 races in very competitive fields each year.

In 2019, I plan to mix it up between road racing, trail running, Half Iron triathlon and duathlon distances.
